fun friday

since it's "fun friday" we are dedicated to all things "kids" in the kitchen.

today the little ones wanted to "make" food (and other things) with play dough. so we got out our trusty playdough recipe and spent hours upon hours making fun food and memories. they made little hot dogs and buns, pizzas, fruit of all kinds. they made pigs, and snakes, and bugs. it allowed us time to just create and enjoy the afternoon.

here's the best playdough recipe i've ever found. it is soft and tender, and doesn't leave a gritty residue on your hands after playing with it.

homemade playdough

1 cup flour
1 cup water
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp vegetable oil
1/4 cup salt
food coloring

put all ingredients into a saucepan and stir over medium heat until it's smooth. at some point it will start to get lumpy.

at that point remove it from the stove and continue stirring it.
it will resemble wallpaper paste.

scoop it onto the counter. it will still be sticky and not yet a dough.

if you want to add more color, so it at this time.

start kneading it. as it cools down, it will start to turn into playdough.

it only takes about 7 minutes from start to finish.

store it in an airtight container and it will keep for months.

have fun!!!
