todays mix is something that i have on hand at all times. ranch dressing. can you survive without it?
not only do we like ranch dressing on our salads, but we like it on lots of other things too. pizza. carrots. sandwiches. chicken. breadsticks. potatoes. the list is endless.
i grew up eating homemade dressing on everything. on our dinner table there was always a little "gravy boat" type bowl with ranch dressing filled to the rim. yum. rich, creamy, ranch dressing.
i'm picky about my ranch dressing. i can say that there is only one brand that i'll buy at the grocery. and i only buy that when i'm in a real pinch. other than that, i revert to this mix. it saves time and money. and makes everything taste extra special.
ranch dressing mix
2/3 cup dried parsley flakes
1/4 cup finely crushed saltine crackers
1/3 cup dried minced onion
3 tbl garlic salt
2 tbl onion salt
1 tbl garlic powder
1 tbl onion powder
1 tbl dried dill weed
1/4 tsp black pepper
in a medium bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well. store in an airtight container in a cool dry place. this is enough mix ti make 12 batches of ranch dressing.
to make dressing: combine 1 tbl mix with 1 cup mayonnaise and 1 cup buttermilk (1 cup milk + 1 tsp vinegar or 3 tbl powdered milk + 1 cup water + 1 tsp vinegar). refrigerate until serving.
