"g" is for good

i attend a cooking group once a month with some great gals. over the past few years, we've had our share of divine creations as well as incredible flops. themes have ranged from anything cheese, to all things red. we've tried international flare as well as local favorites. this month, we decided to try something a bit different. we were lacking ideas. we needed something to spark the creative juices. so a decision was made to select foods based on the letters of the alphabet.

to start it off we began with the letter "g". "g" for good!

there was grilled flank steak and turkey skewers, garden vegetables, gooey bars, german chocolate cake, and i made this delicious grape salad. it's a quirky, fresh salad that will add to any type of fare. you may want to double up the recipe, because it goes quickly.

grape salad

5 cups seedless grapes

8 oz cream cheese

1 cup sour cream

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup chopped nuts (i use toasted almonds)

1/4 cup brown sugar

rinse and dry grapes. mix cream cheese, sour cream and sugar together until smooth. stir in grapes. refrigerate at least 2 hours. (this will thicken as it chills) meanwhile mix nuts and brown sugar together. before serving, sprinkle nut mixture over the top of the salad.
